Should SEC filings not provide an updated count, third-party sources are aggregated to find common counts. If there are discrepancies, where the shares outstanding count isn't certain (with a high degree of confidence), there is a '-' in place.
*If applicable, and when aggregated sources have the same reading, share float is offered, and annotated by an (*) next to the share count number - as this is more relevant for active traders.
